What is AMPHORAE?
AMPHORAE was established in 2007 to bring together postgraduates in Ancient World studies from across Australasia; it has since become a major annual conference.
The University of Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide
In light of the recent situation, the committee has decided that AMPHORAE XIV 2020 in Adelaide will be postponed to later in the year. Please do not make any travel arrangements to Adelaide at this time. We spent some time discussing what we would do, including the possibility of cancelling entirely, or holding the conference through online platforms. In the end, we decided postponement was the best option. A large benefit of conferences like AMPHORAE is that they allow postgraduates to network and socialise. This is not something we wanted to give up and so postponement was the best option. We do not have a new date yet, but we will post here once we have decided.
Due to this postponement, we are extending the Call for Papers up until June 30. This may be extended once we have decided a new date for the conference, but for now we thought it best to provide a deadline.
The travel subsidy application deadline will also be extended. A new deadline for this will be posted once we decide the new dates for the conference.
Thank you all for your patience while we address this issue. Please make sure you are taking all necessary steps to keep yourselves and others safe and healthy. We will provide updates as needed on the website.
When and Where?
AMPHORAE XIV has been postponed to late 2020. Registration, paper presentations, and the Keynote Lecture will all take place at the University of Adelaide's North Terrace Campus, in the beating heart of the Adelaide CBD. Drinks and the Conference Dinner venue will be announced closer to the date.
Call for Papers and Submission Guidelines
Call for papers is now open - click here for more information. Submission guidelines can be found on the submission page.
Registration for AMPHORAE XIV will open on when dates are announced. Registration is free for all attendees. Thanks to the support of the Australasian Society for Classical Studies, we are able to offer a limited number of travel subsidies to ease the financial costs of attending the conference. Information about applying will be made available once registration opens.
