Public Transport.Adelaide has a variety of public transport options: trams, trains, and buses. For access to the conference and travel inside the CBD, the tram is most convenient, and is free (see below). A variety of bus routes pass through the various main streets of the CBD, but only the Free City Connector bus service is free. All trains terminate at Adelaide Railway Station in the north-east of the CBD, only providing access to Adelaide’s various suburbs. |
Tram. |
The tram is free within the CBD. The tram operates one route along King William Road, cutting through the centre of the CBD. It also runs a second route along North Terrace, stopping right outside the University. If coming from the south along King William Street, you must either change trams at Adelaide Railway Station, or get off at the Rundle Mall stop and walk 10 minutes to campus along this main shopping district. If travelling outside the CBD to the south, a ticket is required. |
City Loop. |
The Free City Connector bus operates on two loops:

Tickets.
A paper ticket can be purchased at a machine on trams and trains, or in cash with a bus driver. The cheaper option is to purchase a metrocard, which can be found at various vendors across Adelaide. The metrocard gives access to cheaper rates, approximately half the rate of a paper ticket. Concession fares are only available to local tertiary students; for interstate/overseas visitors, the regular ticket must be used. For more information on pricing, click here. For more on the metrocard system, click here. Alternatively, a 3-Day Visitor Pass can be acquired for $25, providing unlimited travel within the 72 hour period.
From the Airport.
If you wish to take public transport to/from Adelaide Airport, Adelaide Metro runs an express bus service (called JetExpress) between the airport and the city. For those wanting to stop along the way, the JetBus services all stops between the airport and the city. Both JetExpress and JetBus are Adelaide Metro services, and require a ticket (see above).
